VAT olive B is dark grayish-green powder. Insoluble in water and ethanol, soluble in pyridine. Brilliant yellow light green in concentrated sulfuric acid, after dilution becomes olive green. Alkaline reduction chromophores are dark blue; Acid reduction chromophores are dark brown.
